[Analysis of Several Dream Symbols (continued)]

Ring

The ring is a symbol of union - the engagement or wedding ring, etc.  Its round shape suggests wholeness, unity. The bride and bridegroom are considered to make a mystic unity in marriage. It may be a symbol of the Self, in Jung's opinion, as well as, with Freud and Freudians, a female genital symbol, of course.

Blood

The blood is the substance of life. If you see spilled blood in your dream it can be an allusion to death.

Blood can also be spilled as a faithfulness guarantee, as in the ritual of blood brothers. But in many ancient or primitive rituals blood is spilled in order to pay off for an offence or the death of a loved person.

But blood is also a symbol, especially its color, when you say about a person he/she has blue blood you refer to her noble origin.

Finally, blood is the symbol of life but also of spirit.

Money

What does it mean when you dream money? Generally speaking, dreams about money are not considered to announce good things in traditional dream books. It is quite the opposite. Money is not easily obtained and this leads to infinite complications and unexpected sufferance. Furthermore, money always had a bad reputation even if we cannot live without it. Tradition wants money to be dirty, associated with excrements and the devil. In the Bible itself there is a fragment where Jesus says you cannot serve two masters - God and Mammon (Mammon = material wealth, luxury and greed).

In our dreams we can receive money from somewhere, we can find or earn it. Interpreting this symbol must take into account each and every one of these particularities. If we receive money we need to give it back, which is not quite a pleasant thing, or we can receive it due to someone's death - and again it causes sufferance.

If we find money it's a sign that we are not mature enough because we want, as children always do, to have our aspirations accomplished through miraculous ways. Finally if we earn money - as well - we show too much optimism and trust that "whatever will be, will be".

In psychoanalysis, money is the symbol of libido. meaming the desire and its objects, mostly sexual.

In conclusion, as in other dreams, it's good to take into account our own thoughts, ambitions, un-confessed desires when interpreting dreams about money.

Cat

Unlike the dog, the cat cannot be interpreted as the man's friend. But what strikes the most about it is its sensuality. Te cat - cattish - becomes thus a symbol of unbounded eroticism. An attractive woman is always a cat, cattish.

The cat fawns, frolics and searches human company only for its own interest. This is why it is the symbol of the selfish, narcissist and "fatal" woman who will not give up making a future conquest no matter the price.

But in the Egyptian antiquity the cat was respected and divinized for its occult powers and it was often feared or associated with magic.

In the European Middle Age we find many stories about cats burned alive together with their mistresses under the sorcery charge. This is about the famous black cats.

Cat also has healing powers, absorbing, based on some confessions, evil energies.

Feared or loved, the cat appears in our dreams equipped with all these characteristics and only we can decide which of them should apply.

Snow

Snow reminds a lot of people of their happy childhood. It is true that they were impatiently waiting for snow because it means sleighing, skating, in one word holiday and fun. When snow was not coming we were sad and winter was not winter, holiday was not holiday. So, the snow symbolism can take us to our happy childhood when we dream about snow.

But snow, the winter are not just the childhood joys. Snow is water in solid form and because the water, as well as the blood, suggests life, snow it is its reverse and can suggest death, just like the winter when nothing grows, nothing flourishes. Therefore snow is death or at least stagnation because winter is not eternal and it is followed by spring, that is, by hope and the recall of life.

Winter and mountain heights can have other meanings as well. A cold and distant height can be the aim at virility of young people today or the unpleasant memory of the paternal authority.
